Valadan, the Warhorse of Esdragon, enjoys many guises. He is not, however, an Arabian horse. He's a Philadelphia Toboggan Company carousel horse come to life.
Shortbread
Recipe from Blais’ grimoire
- Milk the cow.
- Skim cream.
- Churn butter. If butter will not come, use incantation. If apprentice is doing the churning, have him use the churn. This builds character and muscle.
- Take two quarter-cup measures of the butter and beat in one measure of sugar and five measures of flour, to make a soft dough. Shape into three or four rounds, and flatten them. Cut each round sun-wise, quartering and cross-quartering until you have two/ two and a half dozen cookies.
- Bake in oven until lightly browned. Be sure apprentice watches cookies so they do not burn. Watch apprentice so he does not eat all the cookies.
- Put remaining dozen cookies in cookie crock.
